How to Reinstall Your Website
Prerequisites
In order to host your own website, you must already have the following in place.
- A domain registry account (example GoDaddy) to transfer in and maintain your domain name
- A hosting account with a web hosting provider that supports WordPress websites (Ionos, GoDaddy, Bluehost, etc).
- A working knowledge of the WordPress content management system to be able to reconfigure the website and make changes in the future
Process
In order to install your website on your new server, you will need to do the following.
- Download the website backup file that was included on your website handover document.
- Download the migration plug-in and the plug-in extension from the links provided. (Migration Plug-in Link, Plug-In Extension Link)
- Save all of these files on your computer to begin the process.
- Log into your new WordPress instance
- Install the plug-ins
- Import the website file
- Any necessary cleanup
In order to install the migration files on your new server, you will need to be logged in with an account that has administrative permissions. Support will be provided in the event of any errors after Step 6 of the process above.
